CBD - Your Questions Answered

What is CBD oil?

CBD oil is short for cannabidiol oil, an extract which is made from the hemp plant and then blended with a carrier oil.

There are two main types of CBD oil in the UK - “Isolate” and “Broad Spectrum”. Isolate CBD has all other compounds removed, whereas broad spectrum CBD contains a range of other cannabinoids found in the hemp plant, excluding THC and is generally considered to be a superior product.

How does CBD oil work?

CBD interacts with receptors in your body’s endocannabinoid system (ECS), as well as other neurotransmitter systems, producing therapeutic effects without an intoxicating high.

Is CBD Oil legal in the UK?

Yes. High quality CBD oils which are on the FSA’s Novel Foods register, have less than 1mg of THC per bottle and have been made from industrial hemp are legal for sale, possession and use in the UK.

How does CBD oil affect you?

CBD's primary mode of action is its interaction with the endocannabinoid system, which regulates functions like sleep, mood, and pain. It does this by interacting with receptors in the ECS, but also by affecting pain receptors and neurotransmitters in the brain. This broad interaction spectrum contributes to its diverse range of benefits.

CBD promotes a sense of relaxation, relief from pain or inflammation, reduces anxiety, improved sleep quality and focus. CBD also helps alleviate symptoms of stress and promotes a general sense of ease without impairing cognitive function or causing intoxication.

When should I take CBD oil?

For best results, use regularly - we recommend taking your dose morning and night.

Will CBD oil work if swallowed?

When swallowed CBD oil has to pass through the digestive tract before it can be metabolised and enter your bloodstream. This means that a smaller amount of CBD will make it to your bloodstream and it will take much longer to take effect -  up to 90 minutes.

Can I drive whilst using CBD?

Yes. CBD is does not get you high or alter your perception (unlike THC) and so does not impair your ability to drive.

What does CBD Oil taste like?

KLORIS CBD oil has a pleasant, light herbal flavour.

How should I take CBD Oil?

CBD oil is best taken sublingually, meaning it's held under the tongue for 60-90 seconds before swallowing. This way CBD oil is absorbed under the tongue and then ingested, allowing it to enter the body relatively quickly.

Will CBD get me high?

Unlike THC, the psychoactive compound in cannabis responsible for its intoxicating effects, CBD does not produce a euphoric sensation or alter perception. In other words, CBD does not make you high.

The reason behind this lies in how CBD interacts with the body. CBD works by influencing the endocannabinoid system, a complex network of receptors found throughout the body that regulates various physiological functions such as mood, pain sensation, and appetite. However, unlike THC, CBD does not directly bind to the CB1 receptors in the brain, which are responsible for the psychoactive effects associated with marijuana use.

What is the endocannabinoid system?

The endocannabinoid system (ECS) is one of our body’s largest neurotransmitter networks, responsible for regulating a huge range of bodily functions including sleep, pain response, inflammation and mood. The ECS is always working to achieve balance, or homeostasis, which means maintaining a stable internal environment despite changes in the external environment.

Do you third-party test your products?

Yes, we use government approved laboratories to test all of our products for strength - to make sure they have the amount of CBD on the label and purity - to ensure they are free from THC and contaminants.

How much should I take?

As with any supplement or wellness product, it's essential to start with a low dose of CBD and gradually increase as needed while monitoring how it affects your body. We recommend starting with a dose of 10mg per day - that’s 2 drops of our 10% oil.

Is it safe to use CBD Oil?

While CBD is generally considered safe for most people, there are some cases in which it is best to be cautious or avoid using CBD. Remember to always consult with a healthcare professional before incorporating CBD into your wellness routine, especially if you have any underlying conditions.

CBD may interact with certain medications, such as blood thinners, by inhibiting the activity of cytochrome P450 enzymes, which are responsible for metabolising many prescription medications. This can potentially lead to adverse effects or changes in drug efficacy.

While CBD is generally considered safe for adults, its effects on the developing brains of children and adolescents are not well understood. Therefore, CBD is not recommended to individuals under the age of 18.

CBD is metabolised in the liver, and there is some evidence to suggest that high doses of CBD may increase liver enzymes, which could potentially worsen liver function in individuals with liver conditions.

Some people may also be allergic or sensitive to CBD. If you experience any adverse reactions, such as skin irritation, respiratory issues, or digestive problems, discontinue use and consult with a healthcare professional.

When does CBD Oil expire?

Our CBD oils are good for 6 months once opened and for two years from manufacture. We make new batches monthly and every bottle is dated and batch numbered.

How fast does CBD Oil work?

When taken under the tongue, CBD oil’s effects can typically be felt within 15-30 minutes. Optimal results come with regular use.

What other ingredients are in CBD Oil?

KLORIS CBD oil contains only premium broad-spectrum CBD and medium-chain triglyceride (MCT) oil (from coconuts). There are no added flavourings, colourants or preservatives.

Is CBD addictive?

No. CBD is considered by the World Health Organisation to have a very high safety profile with no risk of abuse or addiction.

Can I take CBD Oil if I am pregnant?

There is limited research on the effects of CBD on pregnant or breastfeeding individuals and their babies. As a precaution, it's best to avoid CBD during pregnancy and lactation unless recommended by a healthcare provider.

Can I use CBD Oil alongside other CBD products?

Yes, CBD oil can be used safely alongside other CBD products but be mindful that the FSA recommends not to ingest more than 70mg per day. This limit doesn’t apply to skin-applied products.
