The Problem We Had to Solve

For months, we were getting the same feedback from customers: "I love what KLORIS patches do for me, but..."

  • "They arrived a bit squashed"

  • "I couldn't tell which patch was which"

  • "The packaging can be difficult to open and close"

Plus I saw time and again that when people first got the packs they got excited and opened them by tearing the top off - which was completely unnecessary, but that was the expectation the pouch design created. Every time I saw an instagram video of that it made me cry a little bit inside. 

When you spend years perfecting a formulation that genuinely helps people sleep better or manage daily discomfort, this kind of feedback hits hard.

As a co-founder, I had a choice: ignore it or obsess over fixing it.

Ignoring problems isn’t my style. I chose obsession.

Why This Mattered So Much to Me

I'm a perfectionist. Always have been. When you're asking customers to trust you with their wellness routine, every detail matters. That’s why we test every batch, obsess over our formulations and go deep on ingredient sourcing. 

But it wasn't just about my standards. I kept thinking about Sarah, whose patches arrived damaged. She needed those patches to work – and our subpar packaging was getting in the way.

That's when I knew we had to redesign everything from scratch.

47 Prototypes. 6 Months. One Mission.

I won't lie – this process nearly drove me mad.

  • Months 1-2: I interviewed customers and analysed every piece of feedback we'd received (over 3,000 reviews)
  • Month 3: Material testing and sustainability research (more on this below), testing different manufacturing partners
  • Month 4: Refinement, prototyping and production testing
  • Months 5-6: Production and delivery

We tested everything. Drop tests, compression tests, heat resistance, postal tests. I even left prototypes in hot cars and blazing sunshine to see how they'd handle real-world conditions.

The team probably thought I'd lost it when I tweaked the prototype for the 47th time, but I knew we hadn't got it right yet.

The Breakthrough: Drawer-Style Design

The solution came from an unexpected place: premium jewellery packaging.

I realised customers needed the same experience opening our patches as they'd get with a luxury purchase. The drawer design protects the patches completely whilst feeling special to open -  and creates a package you’d be happy to leave out on your bedside table.

No more squashed patches. No more confusion. Just a premium experience that matches the quality inside.

The Sustainability Promise

I have two young daughters, 3 months and 3 years old (yes, little Phoebe arrived midway through this project!).

Every design decision I make, I think about the world I'm leaving for them. Creating packaging that protects our planet is as important as protecting our patches.

The new packaging is:
